  • Gas Safe Register

As of the 1st April 2009 any gas work performed in your home, or workplace must be undertaken by an engineer registered with Gas Safe, the national watchdog for gas safety in the UK. Gas Safe exists to protect you, your family, and your property from dangerous gas work. Incorrectly fitted, badly repaired or poorly maintained gas appliances are a major cause of lethal carbon monoxide (CO) poisoning, and can lead to gas leaks and explosions. There are 120,000 Gas Safe registered engineers legally allowed to perform work on gas installations and appliances in Great Britain and the Isle of Man.

  • OFTEC

OFTEC is the Oil Firing Technical Association for the petroleum industry, the installation of an oil fired appliance should be carried out by an OFTEC registered engineer. OFTEC was launched in April 1991 to construct a framework within which oil firing in the United Kingdom and Republic Of Ireland could operate with a greater degree of technical expertise and efficiency. All OFTEC installers are able to certify their own work so there is no need to notify local authority building control when installing an oil fired appliance.
